Hypersleep Nightmares is now available!
This Science Fiction Horror anthology includes nine spinetingling tales, including my Moon Horror short story, "The Long-Unburied Dead."
One of my longtime goals has been to write SciFi Horror. Some of my favorite movies fall into that genre (including Aliens, Predator 2, and Pitch Black) as do some of my favorite books (like Blindsight by Peter Watts). So it should come as no surprise that I eventually tried my hand at writing something along those lines.
"The Long-Unburied Dead" took about two and a half years to research and write. It's set in a space station on the moon. Agarty, the protagonist, is a member of station security, whose job is to fend off Fuglies, inhuman creatures that rise from the regolith during the moon's frigid nights.
Despite the existential dread (the editor's words, not mine), it's not just a Horror story set on the moon. "The Long-Unburied Dead" is about grief that refuses to stay buried. It's about people who keep fighting long after their war should be over, and about loyalty, loss, and learning to let go.
I hope you enjoy "The Long-Unburied Dead" and all the other stories in this collection.
Happy Halloween!
