Running with Sharp Objects is now available!
This Military Science Fiction anthology contains seventeen short stories by some of today's finest authors: Craig Martelle, Kevin Ikenberry, Mark Wandrey, Fred Hughes, Blaine L. Pardoe, James S. Aaron, Kacey Ezell, Jon R. Osborne, Marisa Wolf, Melissa Olthoff, Nick Steverson, Will Crudge, Robert Krog, Charli Cox, Dan Bridgewater, and Jeremy Fabiano.
The anthology was edited by Military SciFi author Chris Kennedy and published by Theogony Books, an imprint of Chris Kennedy Publishing.
My contribution, "Blades of a Dying Sun," is told from the perspective of Joseph Neely, a soldier haptically linked to a dragon-like creature modified into a living weapon by the Luminous, an alien species fighting for survival against a relentless enemy.
Some of the inspiration for this story came from Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern Series and some from The Peripheral TV show (based on the novel of the same name by William Gibson). And some came from the anthology's theme. Combine those elements with an alien war, bladed combat, and a war-hardened soldier forced to confront the true cost of victory, and you have the starting point for "Blades."
Running with Sharp Objects is a fantastic collection of short stories, and it's here just in time to fill some holiday downtime.
Happy reading!
